If you are anything like me, things are crazy around mid-December. To ease the stress and add to my enjoyment of the season, I start creating Christmas projects in July and have them completed by December 1st. I started this last year and it changed December for me! To accomplish this, I create 10 Christmas cards and 5 gift tags each month. One tag design I really like is the Gingerbread House Mug from Pixi Dust Designs. It’s a quick and easy Christmas gift tag that I make multiples of.
Supplies Used
Cardstock:
- Glama Kraft
- Discount Cardstock Bonsai
- Pop Tone Wild Cherry
- Pop Tone Whipped Cream
- Cougar White
I also used ribbons and butcher’s twine from Lawn Fawn, die sets from Pixi Dust Designs and Waffle Flower and some bells I ordered from Amazon.
The Process
First, I cut everything out that I needed for the project. The domed background was cut from Waffle Flower’s Nested Domes die set. The wooden plank on the bottom was cut from the same die set. I stamped the background using an old background stamp from Catherine Pooler. It was stamped in Rockin’ Red Catherine Pooler Ink. I also ink blended the edges in Rockin’ Red ink. You can find a similar background stamp at Trinity stamps, Taylored Expressions and Gina K. Designs. The one I have is no longer sold.
Next, I inked around the edges of the mug using Catherine Pooler’s Icing on the Cake ink. I also used Icing on the Cake on the wooden plank on the bottom of the tag and the dripping chocolate on the mug. Then, I started to glue all of the accessory parts together, the stripes on the candy canes, the swirl on the lollipop, the windows, the door and the wreath, etc. I laid them on the mug and once I liked how they were arranged, I glued everything to the mug.
The Gingerbread Mug House die sets comes with a die so you can cut a slit in the hot chocolate or the whipped cream. I cut a slit in the whipped cream and added the candy canes and lollipop through the slit and adhered them to the mug.
Finishing Up
To finish the tag, I glued the mug to the dome background. I punched a hole in the domed background using my Cropodile. Next, I fed the ribbon and twine through the top. It used an additional piece of twine to tie the bells on. Finally, I added some Crystal Nuvo Drops in White Blizzard around the whipped cream and a gem for the door handle.
Thank you so much for joining me for this quick Christmas gift tag! It really was quick and easy.
Take Care! See you soon,
Patty
