Do you enjoy the birds in your backyard? I sure do! I feed them, give them a place to bathe, and offer many birdhouses throughout our gardens for them to build their nests and raise their young. Birgit here with you today, with a “tweet” spring bird house project that will brighten anyone’s day.
The Project:
The Supplies:
The supplies I used for the bird house are #83 Lessebo Arctic Blue Cardstock and 80# Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock. I used a handful of colors to decorate the bird house from the Lessebo cardstock line, which I’ll list below. Let’s get started, shall we?
Building the Spring Bird House:
I began by die cutting two pieces each of all the bird house pieces to create the birdhouse using the Lessebo Arctic Blue and Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock. To adhere the pieces together, I used Tombow Mono Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.
Next, to turn the birdhouses into a box, I cut a strip of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock that measured 11″ x 2 1/2″. I scored a 1/4″ score line along both 11″ sides of the strip. The scores on the short side of the strip measured 7/8″, 3 1/2″, 5 1/2″, 7 1/2″ and 10 1/8″. I snipped a wedge where the short score lines met up with the long score lines, as seen in the photo above. I then folded and burnished all the score lines using a bone folder and glued the bird house together.
With the box now complete, I proceeded to cut all the floral and other elements I used to decorate the box with.
List of Colored Cardstock:
I die cut multiple flowers out of the following Lessebo colors: Sweet Mint, Salt Water Blue, Lilac and Blossom Pink. I also cut pine sprigs out using Moss, and the cardinal using Cherry Red.
Decorating the Spring Bird House:
Using the flowers, pine sprigs and cardinal, I decorated the birdhouse by gluing the pine sprigs at the base of the birdhouse, giving the cardinal a place to perch. Next, I added the flowers in a random pattern and finished the centers of each flower with a gem.
I really like how the soft colors of the Lessebo cardstock play so well together.
I also added a roof, by cutting a piece of DCS Canvas Textured Ginger Cardstock that measured 6″ x 2 3/4″, scoring at the center.
The Completed Project:
Summing it up, these are the products I used: Lessebo Arctic Blue, Moss, Sweet Mint, Salt Water Blue, Lilac, Blossom Pink, Cherry Red, DCS Canvas Textured Ginger cardstock and Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock. Dies: Bird House Pop Up Easel Set by Poppystamps. Accessories: Fairy Gems by Poppystamps.
