Lots and Lots of Gold

Is there such a thing as too much gold on a project? Normally, I’d say no way but I might have cut it close on this one. Toni with you today sharing my love of pink, gold and apparently more gold.

The Card Front

For the navy layer, I crossed my fingers and hot-foiled Classic Crest Patriot Blue Heavyweight cardstock with a geometric pattern from Pinkfresh Studio. Fortunately, I didn’t have to use my backup plan of using the plain reverse side if the hot foil didn’t work well. Just look at how well that foiled–wow!

I switched to my solid hot foil plate and reverse hot-foiled the leftover gold. I used a glossy cardstock, similar to photo paper, so it wouldn’t add too much bulk behind the other layers.

Next, I rounded the corners of both the blue panel and the card base.

The Floral Wreath

On my last post, I experimented with dry-embossing the Cougar White 110# Cover A2 Folded Cards. This time I wanted to test how well it would hot-foil. Needless to say, as you can see from the photos, it hot-foiled beautifully.

In addition, I discovered that I could use my beloved Copics on the Cougar White 110# cardstock. Look how beautifully the colors blended. Frankly, I was both stunned and excited by the results. Mind. Blown.

I adhered the reverse hot-foiled panel to the wreath then fussy-cut the excess, positioning it such that it matched the geometric pattern of the blue layer beneath.

Adding Gold Glitter Elements

Despite all the gold foil, I decided to use even more gold. Thus, I pulled out DCS Gold Glitter Heavyweight 12×12 cardstock. This glitter cardstock does not shed although I tried my best to get it do so by rubbing it with my fingers, on fabric, even on my cat. As papercrafters, any reduction in the glitter that escapes the craft space is a win–LOL.

So, I diecut the DCS Gold Glitter Heavyweight 12×12 cardstock with both Pinkfresh Studio leaves and sentiment. For the outline of that sentiment, I used Curious Translucent Clear cardstock, which is literally the best vellum I have ever used. I’ll write more about that in a future post. Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed today’s card and have a great rest of your day! For a full list of products used on this project, feel free to visit my blog.
