Hi, CutCardStock friends! Are you ready to wish Winter a farewell until next year? I know I am! Let’s make a card with a Spring scene. I’m Peggy and this is my first post as a new CutCardStock design team member. I’m super excited to share this fun card using awesome cardstock and a mini slimline box card die!
Step 1: Gather Materials
The Lessebo cardstock is a perfect choice for the structure of this box card. It is a very smooth cardstock and it’s nice and sturdy, making it easy to add embellishments. Lessebo Amethyst and Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White were used here.
Patterned paper, a mini slimline box card die, and a stamp set were chosen from my stash. I used several inks to ink blend and black ink for the sentiment. Also used OLO markers, scissors for fussy cutting, liquid glue, and double sided adhesive tape.
Step 2: Stamp Images & Cut Card Base
First, I stamped images in black ink on a piece of Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White and colored them alcohol markers. The colored images can be cut with dies, fussy cut, or cut with an electronic cutting machine. I used my electronic cutting machine, and once cut, I set them aside.
Now it’s time to start cutting out the box card using a mini slimline box die set. I used Lessebo Amethyst for the large back panel, two side panels and the front strip. Next, I cut two stitched panels from Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White along with assorted layering pieces from coordinating patterned papers.
Step 3: Assemble Card Base
Being careful to line up the pieces, I assembled the card base using a strong double sided tape and liquid glue. This step is crucial because a strong foundation ensures a polished final result.
Step 4: Add Layers & Details
This is where the Spring scene really comes to life, starting with a panel of clouds that I ink blended with purple and blue inks. We needed a grassy border so I used a die for the grassy detail, cut from a light green patterned paper. Next, I carefully attached the colored images with wet glue. Lastly, I decorated the front with die cut letters that I ink blended at the bottom with purple ink.
Pro tip: Use a low tack tape to hold the letters in place while ink blending.
Step 5: Complete Project
For the back of the card, I stamped a sentiment in black ink. After all the elements were in place, I took a step back to analyze the composition and added a few final embellishments. Glitter detail to the clouds and glitter glue to the letters and butterflies for the win! To complete the card, I highlighted the colored images with white detail pen and stamped my custom stamp on the back.
