Hello! It’s Patty on the blog today. I am such a fan of die cutting images that I forget my electronic die cutting machine can do other things. Today I brushed up on my skills and used my Brother Scan N Cut electronic die cutting machine to create a wreath for St Patrick’s Day. This wreath was created to go on an antique cabinet we inherited from my husband’s grandma. I customized the SVG to make it the perfect size. Purchasing SVG’s is easy and inexpensive. I bought this SVG on Etsy.
Getting Started
When I first purchased the SVG and loaded it into my Scan N Cut, I sized all of the images at once and saved it to my laptop. Then I loaded the saved image, deleted all the layers I wasn’t cutting at the time and cut the layers in the colors I selected. I started the cutting process by using a low tack mat for my electronic die cutting machine. To prevent the card stock from shifting, I taped the card stock to the mat. Next, I adjusted the blade to “5” and the pressure to “0”. The card stock cut perfectly!

- The last two layers were Yellow Jacket and Eclipse again.
The Process
First, I cut three layers of layer eight (8) in the color Eclipse. You could cut layer 8 in red and layer seven (7) in orange to create a true rainbow. Because I wanted the wreath to be outlined in black, I cut layer 8 out of Eclipse. Second, I cut layer seven (7) from Re-Entry Red and layer six (6) from Yellow Jacket. Third, I cut layer five (5) from Granny Smith Apple Green and layer four (4) from Vulcan Green. Finally, I cut the third (3) layer from Bonsai, the second (2) layer from Yellow Jacket, and the top layer from Eclipse.
To assemble the wreath, I applied Bearly Art glue to glue all the layers together. Because I didn’t want a lot of the colored edges showing, I outlined all the edges of the card stock with a black marker. I didn’t want the Yellow Jacket card stock to show through on the horse shoes. I applied an additional layer of gold to the horse shoes with the Pentel Gold Sparkle pen.
The wreath is now hanging on my cabinet mirror with the perfect size and colors to match my other St. Patrick’s Day decor!
