Hello Spring! A Cheerful Chick Card

Spring is just around the corner, and what better way to welcome the season than with a bright and cheerful handmade card? Mary here, and today I am sharing a sweet chick-in-a-nest card featuring card stock from Cut Card Stock. This design is perfect for Easter, Spring greetings, or just to spread a little joy.

Supplies Used:

~From Cut Card Stock: Pink Lemonade, Rubber Ducky, Brick, Taupe, Coffee Bean, Black Licorice and Cougar Smooth

~Buttercup ink from Concord and 9th and Punch Pawsitively Saturated ink from Simon Says Stamp

~Liquid glue and white gel pen

Creating the Card:

I started by die cutting the chick from yellow and white card stock. I added a soft ink blend of yellow ink around the belly of the chick, creating a soft glow. A tiny beak, eyes and cheeks bring this little cutie to life. A tiny bit of pink ink blending was added to the cheek area.

The nest is die cut from two shades of brown card stock and layered together to give it a realistic, cozy feel. I love how the intricate cuts mimic real twigs, making it the perfect little home for our springtime friend.

Framing the Scene:

For the card’s background, I used a soft pink scalloped frame layered over a clean, white panel. I die cut 3 frames and stacked them. This subtle detail adds a sweet and delicate touch without overpowering the design.

Stamping the Sentiment:

The “Hello Spring” sentiment is stamped in pink ink. I love the playful script and how it adds a touch of whimsy to the card.

Assembling the Card:

Using liquid glue, I adhered the chick to the nest and then attached it to the card panel. The chick appears as if it’s peeking out of its nest, ready for Spring! Adhere your finished panel to an A2 card base.

Finishing Touches:

Using a white gel pen, I added a few highlights to the chick. I believe this finishes the card off nicely.

The combination of pretty, Spring colors, a charming chick, and intricate die cut details, makes this card perfect for the season. If you are looking to create your own spring-themed cards, be sure to check out Cut Card Stock’s selection of high quality card stock and supplies.
