How is it the end of the year already? I say it every year and I mean it every year too! Hi everyone, I’m Maureen and I am surprised to be making an end of the year project again. The months pass by so quickly. Let’s embrace it by finishing out the year with a New Year’s card! Of course we’ll be playing with the sparkly CutCardStock papers too!
Start with the Blank 5×7 Folded Note Card in Cougar White. The larger card size is perfect for making a statement and I love working with a bigger canvas. I definitely want this project to shine, so I’ve chosen papers from the glitter and metallic collections.
Cut a piece of Black Glitter card stock at a 4.75″ by 6.75″ size and adhere it to the front panel. Make sure to give this thorough coverage with your adhesive because it is a heavyweight paper. Lay a flat item over it to ensure no curling occurs.
Next, I selected a firework pattern from your favorite electronic cutting machine library or SVG files. A large die cut would also work for this. Size the pattern to be cut within a rectangle of about 4.5″ to 6.5″ in size. Position a 4.75″ by 6.75″ piece of Stardream Metallic Onyx paper on your cutting mat and allow your machine to cut the image. I recommend a heavy paper setting for this cut.
Remove the firework panel from the mat and adhere it over the Black Glitter paper. One note: I’m using the panel and not the negative pieces from the cut. Once again, use a liberal amount of adhesive. I prefer a wet glue for this.
I cut the numbers 2-0-2-5 from Stardream Metallic Gold paper. If you have a champagne die cut like mine, cut the accent label and wrapper in the Stardream Gold also.
I also picked Stardream Metallic Silver and more of the Black Glitter to create the bottle. I created the bow with Stardream Onyx.
My final addition is a pre-printed sentiment. I choose these on occasion when I want a high contrast sentiment. Often I can’t get that from a stamp or embossed phrase. I added this to the front with some dimensional foam.
This is an easy to assemble card that creates flair and drama and your recipients will love it! As an added bonus, I have included an additional card I made for a friend who’s son was turning 21 on New Years Eve. This is another option if you don’t want a champagne theme. Add a top hat and bow tie instead!
Happy New Year to all of you faithful CutCardStock fans! I wish you much joy and prosperity in the new year. Cheers!
