Learning How To Drive layout

Happy Wednesday, CutCardStock friends, Cassie here with you today! We have reached the point in our lives where we are teaching our teenage daughter how to drive. In some ways, this might be scarier than Halloween!  This is a huge milestone in our house, so I couldn’t wait to scrap it. So it seemed like this would be a perfect subject to use on my latest layout.

Getting Started

Usually I would start by picking out cardstock colors, but for this page I started by finding a cut file.  I knew I wanted a large winding road, so I needed to find the right design. The cut file of a road needed to take up the majority of the background.  Once I decided on a cut file, I adjusted the size to fill my background.

I started with a piece of the DCS Canvas Textured Shadow Gray cardstock and DCS Canvas Textured Wedding Cake White cardstock to use as the road on my layout. The other colors are DCS Wild Blueberry Navy cardstock, DCS Canvas Textured Surf cardstock, Lessebo Coffee Bean cardstock and DCS Smooth Granny Smith Green cardstock.

After creating the road background, I used my Silhouette to also cut out the pieces for a cute direction sign for my title.  I used the Lessebo Coffee Bean cardstock and DCS Smooth Granny Smith Green cardstock along with a piece of wood grain patterned paper.  Once the layers were cut out, I used stamps to add the words to the wood patterned arrows.

Finishing the Page

When I started assembling my layout, I turned back to my Silhouette to cut out some clouds and extra green grass layers.  I added some Mowed Lawn Distress Ink to the grass pieces for extra dimension.  For the clouds I added Tumbled Glass Distress Ink, prism glaze and some translucent texture paste for some extra color and dimension.

My photo is in black & white but behind it is the same photo in color.  I love that it adds just a bit of color behind the photo.  I also added two layers of patterned paper for some extra color as well.  I finished off the layout with some star shaped jewels.

I really hope that you enjoyed this layout. Thanks for joining me today!
