Letterpress Cardstock with Betterpress Plates!

I LOVE trying new things and when I saw that CutCardStock had Letterpress cardstock, I had to try it! Jessica here today to share with you this foiled Betterpress birthday card!

To start, I cut an A2 sized piece of Savoy 100% cotton cardstock meant to be used for letterpress.

I added a small amount of repositionable adhesive to the clear plate. Next, I attached the cotton cardstock to the clear plate, aligned in the middle of the A2 marks. Similarly, I aligned my betterpress plate on the magnetic platform. For the first color, I ran some Olive dye ink over the plate in gentle circular motions.

Look how pretty this is after running it through the die cutting machine! You could stop here, but I wanted to add another color onto the leaves for an ombre look.

With the first layer of color down, I added dark teal ink to the top and bottom of the plate. Be careful to not move the plate or the cardstock. They both need to be in the same position to allow reinking of the same area.

To avoid having harsh lines, I used a brush to soften the edge of the dark teal area.

After I finished the images, I inked the edges of the A2 panel. This cotton cardstock is also great for blending!

I trimmed the panel down to 4″ x 5-1/4″. Next, I adhered it to an A2 size panel of Gold Foil cardstock and then to an A2 size cardbase. The 110# precut and prescored A2 card bases are awesome. They are heavyweight and I keep a stack of them on hand because they are so convenient and great quality!

To add a little more shine, I foiled the Happy Birthday sentiment and trimmed it down. Gold foil on a piece of Stardream Metallic Sapphire cardstock was the ticket. Dimension is great for adding interest, so I used foam tape to pop that up on the background. This Happy Birthday plate is a Betterpress plate but they are great for foiling too! You can foil Betterpress plates but it is not recommended to Betterpress with foil plates.

To complete the card, I added some gold pearls. I would love to see your fun projects using the Letterpress cardstock over at CutCardstock! They have a few different varieties with shades of white and off white!
