Summer is in full swing here and we had our first heat wave here in the Pacific Northwest. Overall we are not really equipped for temps nearing 100 degrees. Luckily we have AC, so I managed to hide out inside and scrap during the highest temps. We live pretty close to the Puget Sound, so we have lots of rocky beaches nearby that are perfect for some outdoor adventures.
Getting Started
After printing my photo I picked out a cut file from Peartree Cutfiles to use on my page. I grabbed some of my Stardream Metallic Quartz cardstock to cut out the cut file along with just the outside for a backing. Once I had my cut file I selected the rest of my cardstock colors.

Canvas Textured Seafoam Green cardstock
Now that I have all my cardstock colors selected it was time to back my cut file. After backing the flowers and leaves I wanted to add some extra color dimension to the large shell. I grabbed some distress ink and my blending brush to add some pink to the large backing piece that I cut to go behind the whole cut file. I am always impressed with not only how well the Stardream Metallic cardstock cuts but also with how awesome it looks with ink blended on it. The ink doesn’t cover up the shine at all! Next, I glued the cut file down on the backing piece.
Creating my background
For the background of my page I grabbed a piece of patterned paper. This piece matched the Seafoam Green cardstock that I used for the leaves of the cut file. I loved the distressed look on the paper, but I wanted to add something extra for fun. So I grabbed a wave stencil, my Salvaged Patina Distress Ink and a blending brush. And I added some waves around the outside of the page. Loving this little extra dimension on my page!
Finishing the Page
Since the shell cut file takes up most of the space on my 12×12 page, finishing the page was pretty quick. I placed the cut file on the page first and then slid my photo behind parts of the shell and glued it down. At this point I added some puffy alpha stickers for the title of the photo. My final touches include some floral die cuts and enamel dots.
Thanks for joining me today!
