Good morning! Sharon here with a little something for all you Swiftys out there which includes my daughter! This card was made for her, the album name is so applicable for things affecting her currently.
So do you want to make a similar card? Here’s how!
Start by choosing your color scheme; of course these are my daughter’s favorite colors. I used Pop-Tone cardstock in Black Licorice, Grape Jelly, Sno Cone and Blue Raspberry. All you need are scraps, I’m a bit of a hoarder when it comes to little bits of cardstock but they come in real handy for making cards like this.
The dies are part of a Concord & 9th set called Best Friend Vibes. I am going to be doing two types of bracelets – a cord and bead one and a woven one. For these I will cut the little pieces multiple times.
The little string ends just look like spiders! Next you will need to build the woven section. You just need to die cut a piece of scrap white card for this. It does need to have adhesive on it you can use tape runner or wet glue. I am using some double sided adhesive sheets. You can adhere these to your cardstock before running it through your die cutting machine so you get perfect coverage.
Starting at the point of your section gradually add the chevron pieces in the color pattern of your choice. You need to make sure all of the cardstock strip is covered. Don’t worry about getting it perfectly straight, after all the bracelets aren’t! As you can see I have a little wavy section on mine. I do add another piece to the tail end to cover the tiny bit of white cardstock that is showing.
Now to build the card. I used Classic Crest Solar White 110lb cardstock for my base, cut and fold this to an A2 landscape. The mat I am using coordinates with my bracelets in Grape Jelly cardstock. I’m also using a card front cut from Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock. I do like to switch my mats up occasionally from plain cut. I like to use Unity Scallops and Rectangles Dies as these leave the perfect size borders.
You need to add some of the components before you add the white topper. The “corded bracelets” have string dies for the bead bracelets and cut from the Black Licorice cardstock. These are really fine so die cutting with the double sided sheets is the best option for adhering these down
To build the card adhere the strings to the tail end of your woven bracelet then trim the other end so it fits perfectly on your white panel and glue in place.
Then add your cords for the bead bracelets. I am using both the straight and swag dies for these but again they aren’t perfectly straight but it doesn’t matter.
Ok so this is where I had a dumb moment. I need “letter beads” the set comes with letter stamps. My first attempt took forever as I die cut the beads first. The stamp is one block so the next hour I was putting the squares back into the waste from die cutting to line them up correctly.
Of course I needed multiple letter beads to spell my words. I then have an A-HA moment! Of course you stamp first then die cut!!!!
Much easier! Once you have your letters then build your bead bracelets. Starting from the middle of the cords build your words outwards. This helps to ensure the beads are spaced correctly and symmetrical (which is a huge deal for me!!)
To give the bracelet more interest you can add flat back pearls, enamel dots or other embellishments, I love the look of these tiny silver beads.
Continue adding the paper die cut beads until you have the look you want. Technically these bracelets don’t have spaces between the beads but I decided I like the look of spaces better.
Wet glue is the best way to adhere the beads however you do need to let the glue dry a little in between adding the beads as they are easy to move and slide!
I just love this look, and the possibilities for girlfriend cards are endless – just add different wording!
Thank you for taking time to read my post I hope my stamping faux pas gave you a giggle!
