I love giving my niece little gifts for all the holidays, even if just a little gift bag with some candy. For St. Patrick’s Day, I thought it would be fun to make a glittery purse to hold some candy for her! I found a file on the Silhouette Design Store that I thought was really cute and went to work!
I LOVE the heavyweight glitter cardstock that Cut Cardstock has – it is beautiful, the glitter doesn’t flake off, and it is sturdy enough to use for bases of 3D projects! For the base of this purse gift bag, I used the Heavyweight Green Glitter 12×12 cardstock. For the other parts of the bag, I used the Gold Foil cardstock (handles and buckles), Stardream Onyx Metallic cardstock (pieces that hold the handle to the purse), and the Stardream Metallic Gold (front part of the purse with the shamrock cut outs).
I prefer to use liquid glue when adhering cardstock to glitter cardstock.
I also find it easiest to adhere the decorative front of any 3D project prior to assembling the project. I glue down as many pieces as I can on a flat surface and let that dry before assembling the side pieces.
I have a magnetic glass surface and find it is very useful to use magnets to hold pieces down to allow the glue to dry! This allows me to move on and start gluing other pieces down without having to hold it and wait.
I LOVED making this project! My niece is going to love it. The glitter and metallic cardstocks at Cut Cardstock are the best and I try to use them in all my projects!!
