‘Donut’ Know What I’d Do Without You!

Good morning! Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, who makes cards and sends for this holiday? I have started making family cards including this cute one for my daughter to give a friend.

I love to cross stitch as well as paper craft so these stamps are perfect for me. This is a simple card to make, the dies and stamps are all from a Diamond Press Collection. I love the many colors of cardstock that Pop Tone comes in – you can match it to any project you need it for.

Pink Lemonade and Razzleberry work well together. For the base you will need a Classic Crest 110lb in Solar White. Cut this down the length to give you 2 top folding card bases.

You are then going to mat the top with Razzle Berry cut to A2 size. Next using a plate background die run the Pink Lemonade through the die cutter to give you a detailed panel.

It doesn’t matter if this is a very busy pattern like the one I have used because most of it is going to be covered.

If you use a fine detail die there is 2 ways to make this easy to glue, you can add double sided glue sheets before you die cut then peel the backing off. Or I have used wet glue with a fine tip. Both ways work well.

Now for the design. There are 2 cross stitch ‘hoops’ to choose from, this rectangle works well with the stamps and fits both the sentiment and donut.

Brown Bag Cardstock is perfect for the hoop and Antique Gold Metallic Cardstock for the fastener.

To make this stand out better you need to cut the die 4 times. It doesn’t show well on the image but adding some Brushed Corduroy distress ink to the edges of one you are going use as the top layer gives look of a wooden effect.

You will then glue all 4 layers on top of each other to give a chipboard effect.

Same with the fastener die, cut 4 and glue them together. This can then be glued to the top of the hoop.

Now for the stamping. You will need a piece of Solar White Cardstock that fit inside the hoop. The Donut is a layered cross stitch pattern stamp. The first layer I stamp is the ‘frosting’ using a Pink Ink – Hey it’s Valentine’s so lots of pink! I have trouble lining these stamps up so when I add the cake part as you can see blue permanent marker on the top of the stamp makes this easier.

You need a darker pink for the ‘sprinkles’ stamp. Use the same ink for the sentiment to make it pop against the donut.

Adhere the frame to this and you’ve got a super cute topper.

Because of the dimension of the frame you can glue this flat to your decorated card base.

Once in place on your card, add the bow which is cut from the Razzleberry cardstock

For detail you can add some dimensional ‘sprinkles’. These tiny flat backed pearls look like the little sugar balls for cake decorating.

Super cute and super easy card which is great for my teenage daughter!

Thanks for checking out my card, why ‘donut’ you go make make your Valentine a sweet card!
