Gift Card Tags

I love making my own tags for the holidays, and I have recently started to make them into gift card holders too! I love these for giving gift cards with the tag attached to a small gift. I used some of the new Leesebo cardstock to make these – I’m loving this cardstock!

I used the Ivory and Cherry 83# Lessebo cardstock for the bases of the tags. I cut the sheets down into 4 1/4 x 5 1/2″ panels to make them easier to work with.

I wanted a striped background pattern and found this stamp in my stash! I embossed the stripes with a gold sparkle embossing powder.

I embossed the stripes on two panels of the Ivory and two of the Cherry. I am making two gift card tags today – one with a cherry background and one with an ivory background. I will use the opposite color to make the little folder piece that the gift card can be tucked down into. After the embossing was done, I die cut them all with a large tag die.

I set aside one tag of the cherry and the ivory after they were die cut. On the other cherry and ivory, I used a fancy stitched die to cut off the bottom corner. This will be the piece that the gift card gets tucked into.

On the right, you can see the cherry tag with the ivory corner attached to it. On the left is the ivory tag with the red piece at the bottom that will be adhered down onto the corner. Since we want to tuck a gift card in there, we need to leave the top part of the corner piece open so the card will fit in it. I used 1/8″ Scor-tape along the side and bottom of the corner piece and adhered that onto the tag.

l also cut a tag from the cherry and ivory – panels that were not embossed. I am going to put these on the back of the tags to help create a finished look on the back but also use this as a place to write To and From, but also stamped a little Christmas image on there.

Next we need a bow! I used the Gold Foil cardstock and cut out these bow pieces for each tag.

This is where reverse tweezers really come in handy, I used the tweezers to hold the pieces in place until the glue dries.

And Voila! Lovely shiny gift tags to put gift cards in! You have to check out all the beautiful colors that the new Lessebo cardstock comes in!
