Cards with Inlaid Diecut Window

Hey everybody! Happy Monday – I hope you had a great weekend! Do you like trying different crafting techniques? I sure do! Leslie here, sharing a couple baby girl cards I made employing the inlaid diecut window technique.

I’ve done this one a few times over the years, and I always love how it turns out! These cards feature our Cougar Smooth 100# White cardstock along with Royal Sundance Burgundy Linen and PopTone Grape Jelly cardstock.

I discovered with this project that our slightly thicker Cougar White 4×6 Flat Cards are great for adding dimensional die cuts! Typically inlaid die cuts are flat, but these cards open up to reveal the window that the dimensional die cut fits into, which is a slightly different twist. 😉

Cut Card Bases and Layers

Cut two standard size A2 side-folding card bases and inside signature panels from Cougar Smooth 100# White cardstock. Next, cut front and inside layering panels from patterned paper and embellishing strips from Royal Sundance Burgundy Linen and PopTone Grape Jelly cardstock.

Inlaid Die Cut Window

Washi tape the patterned paper layering panels to the card fronts. Die cut a bear shape window into the front flap on each card (through both layers) and remove the washi tape. Separate the negative space pieces, toss the patterned paper ones, and save the cardstock ones for stamping.

Adhere Layers & Embellishing Strips

Adhere the patterned paper layering panels and embellishing strips to each card front. Similarly, adhere the inside layering panels and white signature panels.

Stamp & Color Focal Images

Stamp the bears on the reserved negative space pieces in black ink, color them with desired markers, and layer each of them onto two additional die cuts (cut from slightly thicker Cougar White 4×6 Flat Cards).

Adhere Focal Images

Adhere the bears to the inside of each card, using the window as a guide for placement.

Add Sentiment and Gemstones

Stamp the front sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black ink in the upper right corner on each card front and add clear iridescent gemstones. This completes the project.
