Hello CutCardStock fans! If you celebrate Easter, then you may know that today is Good Friday. In the Christian tradition, this is the day that commemorates Jesus crucifixion on the cross. The good news that is shared on Easter is joyous, however, and that he defeats sin and death after 3 days.
I thought maybe you would enjoy a card that celebrates this holiday that can also be on display as a decoration. I’ve created an egg-shaped card from a basic die cut that also highlights the spectacular sparkle paper CutCardStock has on sale this month.
I’m starting with the Pop Tone Grapesicle paper as my base. I’ve folded the paper in half, and then placed a large egg die cut slightly over the edge of the fold in the paper. This is run through my die cut machine.
Next, I’ve taken the Pop Tone Sweet Tooth paper, and cut a cross shape with my electronic machine. This shape is a stained glass top cut from a library file and I thought it would be pretty to use a sparkle paper underneath.
I’ve chosen the Mirrisparkle Pink Sapphire paper as a backdrop because it is beautiful to look at. I love that it also doesn’t shed glitter all over either!
The cross is attached to the front of the card with tacky glue, and then I’ve taken a couple other leaf die cuts and created some leaves to attach to the middle of the cross. These leaves are cut with the Pop Tone Gumdrop Green paper.
My final embellishments are to attach a flower to the middle of the cross and a tag, cut with Pop Tone Sweet Tooth, and stamped with a message.
To help your egg card stand, you can slice off a small piece at the bottom of your card. It’s also a great option to punch a hole at the top and thread twine in it for a basket tag.
I hope you find time for yourself this weekend, perhaps to even do some creating. And, if you celebrate, I wish you all a blessed Easter weekend! As we say over this special weekend, He is risen!
