Open Frame St Patrick’s Day Card
Hello friends! Jennifer McGuire was at it again and showed a card from with die cuts glued together! I was inspired to create this fun open frame St. Patrick’s Day card using the Lucky Love Shamrock die from Sizzix, and am posting for CutCardStock.
Create The Components
Select your cardstock. Curious Metallic Virtual Pearl and Gold Leaf are perfect for this project. Color some of the Virtual Pearl using Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide Ink. It appears the Gold Leaf Curious Metallic may be out of stock right now. Consider Champagne Curious Metallic as an alternative.
Cut three shamrocks from the Gold Leaf, three from the Virtual Pearl and three shamrocks from the Mowed Lawn inked Virtual Pearl Cardstock using the Sizzix Lucky Love Impresslit Die. Ink blend the three Virtual Pearl Shamrocks with Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide Ink. Once dry use a brayer to add Toner ink over the top of a couple of shamrocks. While you can still see some of the Toner Ink, it was difficult to capture the gold foiling in the photos.
Use the Sizzix Shadow Script #1 die to cut the word Lucky from the Mowed Lawn Curious Metallic Cardstock and the shadow from the Gold Leaf Cardstock.
Assemble the Card Front
Use a piece of cardstock 4.25 x 5.5 inches and tape to the back of a clear stick mat. This will provide a guide for the shamrock placement. Arrange the shamrocks around the edge of the guide to create your open frame card front. Glue only the edges to assemble. You may want to cover with an acrylic block to add weight to the pieces adhere properly.
Glue the lucky sentiment to the shadow and glue only the edges to form the card front. Once it is dry, move to assemble the card.
Assemble the Card
Cut a Royal Sundance Fiber Kraft Cardstock to 5.5 by 4.75 inches. Score along top of the landscape-oriented card 1/2 inch down to form the ledge to attach the open frame to.
Glue only the top of the shamrock line to the 1/2 inch ledge. Allow to dry completely.
Cut another piece of the cardstock 5 x 7.5. Score in the center to form a smaller landscape oriented card to add to the center of the card base. You can cut additional shamrocks to decorate the center of the card.
