Valentine Shaker Ornaments

How many of you had a hard time taking your Christmas decorations down this year? I always do but it felt harder this year! I decided to get myself a small tree for the Spring holidays to make it easier on myself. And I set out to make Valentine shaker ornaments for myself using CutCardStock paper!

I got a new shaker diecut set that had some gorgeous shapes, so instead of giving away my projects this time, I made myself a few little trinkets to keep. To start, I’ve cut different shapes from the Shimmery Canvas Strawberry Cream Pink and the Stardream Metallic Pluto White and Mars Red papers.

Building the Shaker Ornaments

Shakers are 3D images that you fill with sequins or beads, and I found a really pretty red and pink sequin combo to fill mine with. I’ve got foam pieces already cut from my kit, and these are attached to the base paper piece in each color.

Then I filled in the center and glued on the layer of acetate over the sequins. Here is where I glue in a piece of twine to form the hanger.

Next comes the layered edges of Strawberry Cream Pink and Stardream Pluto White, glued over the acetate. Clear glue works best for this project, especially on acetate, so the view doesn’t get cloudy through the shakers.

To embellish, I’ve cut an assortment of shapes and letters in the following papers: Strawberry Cream Pink, Stardream Metallic Onyx Black (letters), and Stardream Metallic Mars (hearts). I also did some sentiment phrases in these colors and also used the Stardream Metallic Pluto too. If I haven’t said it before…this paper is my favorite. *wink*

The final steps are always my favorite! Add bows, gems and details with a white or black gel pen as desired. They look so polished after the decorating!
