Pumpkin Place Cards

Decorating my dining room table this time of year is so much fun! I change it up often with the seasons, and take every opportunity to see what unique place settings I can do next. If I can personalize it for dinner parties – even better. This project is SO easy – and it only takes a basic oval shape, some embellishments, stamps you may have on hand and the lovely CutCardStock colors available right now!

I started with the Natural Felt Royal Sundance paper, and stamped it in black ink with a background stamp, using a script font stamp that I’ve had for ages. There are so many stamp patterns that would be pretty to do! Next, I took a 3″ wide oval and cut out 2 from the stamped Natural Felt paper for the base of the pumpkin. I cut a 3rd oval in the Stardream Aquamarine Metallic paper – this paper looks like pearl. It’s so lovely, and shimmers in the light!

I took the 2 stamped ovals, and overlapped them slightly, like shown in the picture. Adhere them with your favorite adhesive, then take the Stardream Aquamarine oval and place it in the middle. Secure this one with more adhesive and let dry.

Now comes my favorite part – embellishments! Depending on your color scheme, you can use almost anything to decorate these. I wanted more pastels to blend with the turquoise. These flowers are from Prima flowers, and some floral shaped bling I had around the house. Taking some wired gold ribbon, I tied a small bow and glued it to a mini clothespin for the top.

With a small piece of the Natural Felt , I cut off a small triangle at the end and stamped some different messages to attach as flags. You could handwrite or print your guests’ names – or place a custom print order with special pre-printed messages too! Clip the clothespin to the top, lay them on your table setting, and include a few more embellishments for flair.

Another idea I really like as well – include a pen and ask your guests to write what they’re thankful for on the place card! The clothespin gives you the ability to remove the flag for later if you want to reuse the pumpkins, but you may want to save them as a memory of your event. I used a rolodex punch to make grooves at the bottom of the card. It makes the perfect item to save in this new trendy style of memory album.

Gatherings, especially for the holidays, are a great chance to make memories with others. Feel free to save this to your Pinterest board for later! I’d love to hear what CutCardStock colors you’d use or additional ways you might make memories with others. Share a comment below!
