Romantic Gold and Silver Wedding Card
There’s nothing more romantic than a wedding where two people are so obviously in love with each other. Such occasions deserve elaborate and elegant cards. For me, that often means I will include gold and silver elements in my card making whether it be in glitter, mirror card or metallics.
The card I have for you today checks those boxes. CutCardStock’s beautiful cardstock made this one really fun to plan and put together. Let’s start with the flowers. These were made with Pop Tones Sweet Tooth cardstock. I find the 65 lb weight is perfect for making flowers. It holds up very well and accepts inks easily. My flowers were made using a Heartfelt Creations stamp, die and flower mold called Oakberry Lane. Once I had made the flowers and leaves, I sprayed them with two coats of silver Glitter Dust from Therm-O-Web. This coats the flowers and leaves with fine silver glitter and also gives them a glossy look that reminds me of pearlized fondant.
The main decorative front is cut from a nested die in Stardream Metallic Gold. Only the largest of the dies was cut from Savannah White Limba Woodgrain cardstock instead of gold. I love the texture this lovely woodgrain embossed cardstock offers, especially against the smooth metallic finishes of the rest of the card. I arranged and glued all the layers and attached it on a Stardream Metallic Silver panel. Both the silver and gold Stardream Metallic cardstocks are so beautiful. They add shimmer and shine without being overpowering like mirror cardstocks can be.
The 3D LOVE letters are Tim Holtz Ideao-ology Typography Findings. They are off-white but I painted them with three coats of pink pearlescent acrylic paint. I kept them in place while I painted them by sticking a piece of double-sided tape to my craft mat and then putting a letter on top. I could work on each letter this way without them moving around on me. Once dry, I coated the tops of the letter with Art Glitter Glue and dipped them into Ranger Bridal Tinsel embossing powder. I like the frosty glitterly effect I got by doing that. The letters, paint and glue held up great to the heat embossing too.
The final touch is a sticker from a Tim Holtz Idea-ology Clippings sheet which says, “Dearly beloved, we are gathered together.” Let there be no doubt that this was made to celebrate a special wedding!
Very important to mention is that the 5 x 7 card base was made with Classic Crest Natural White. This 110# cardstock is one of my favorites for card bases. It’s heavy weight means it won’t bow or callapse when being displayed.
