Trendy Tropical Zentangle® Card

Chanel vacation vibes with this trendy tropical Zentangle® card featuring Curious Metallic Virtual Pearl cardstock.

All the details to create this trendy tropical Zentangle® card are in this short cardmaking video tutorial. Watch here or in HD on YouTube. While you’re there I’d love it if you like, subscribe, and share it with your crafty friends!

Curious Metallic Virtual Pearl

If you haven’t tried Copic coloring on metallic cardstock, you’ve got to! Copic maker ink is transparent so the metallic sheen shows through the coloring. This creates a beautifully unique finish to your cards and paper crafting projects.

Here I used Curious Metallic Virtual Pearl. Straight on its cream-colored. But, from a side glance, it has a blueish purple sheen. Just gorgeous!

Between Curious Metallic and Stardream Metallic cardstocks there are so many colors to choose from. I like to buy 5×7 sheets as they’re perfect for card fronts and die-cuts. Check out the $1.99 Specials for fabulous deals on metallic 5×7 packs!

Leaflet Zentangle® Pattern

After you choose your cardstock, it’s time to tangle! If you’ve never tried Zentangle® before, that’s ok. While the finished pattern looks complicated it’s really very easy when you break it down into steps.

Helen Williams developed leaflet, the Zentangle® pattern that I showcased today. If you feel you need more help with the pattern above and beyond what I’ve shared in the video, check out Helen’s instructions here.

Copic Coloring Zentangle® Card

Traditional Zentangle® is drawn with black ink and shaded with a graphite pencil. However, I wanted a pop of color and I love Copics on metallic cardstock. I kept it simple with a three-color blend of Copic YG03, YG63, and YG67.

To elevate the Zentangle® medallion off the page shade the outer edge with a single line of graphite. A regular household pencil works well. Then soften the graphite line with a tortillon or paper stump.

Finish the card with a sentiment strip and it’s done! Here I used Altenew New York Stamp Set and white heat embossed on Basis Black cardstock.
