Wonderful Watercolors!
Hello everyone! Amber here with you today and I’m so excited to share the new watercolors we are carrying at CutCardStock.com. During our visit to the CHA Mega Show in Anaheim last month, we fell in love with the Gansai Tambi Watercolors from Kuretake, and knew they would be a great match for many of our cardstocks. I’m here to show you these yummy watercolors and how they perform on a few of our white cardstocks.
Even the packaging is gorgeous! The linen box is filled with the vibrant pucks, just waiting for some water and your creativity. They are available in 12, 24 and 36 color sets; each color is in a removable cup so they are convenient to work with. Don’t worry, the backs of the little cups are marked with the numbers so you’ll be able to put them back in their correct spots.
On the inside of the lid is a blank “road map”, not unlike one you might find inside your favorite box of chocolates! There is even a little spot to color a sample of each paint.
I chose a few of my favorite white cardstocks to test out. Some might insist you need traditional watercolor paper, but I’m here to show you otherwise. I tested Teton Deckle Edge (80#), Esse Textured (100#), Neenah Solar White (130#), Royal Sundance Felt (110#) and Savoy 100% Cotton (118#). I taped them all down to my work surface and applied the same three colors to each of them.

Picking a favorite is tough, but two might vie for that position, the Savoy 100% cotton and the Teton. But I think you should try them and see which is your favorite! We’d like to get a set of these watercolors and some samples of different cardstocks into the hot little hands of one of our viewers… so we’re having a giveaway!

I love using a light gray card stock it's an unexpected background that tally gives color a nice pop!
Thank you for this post! I use 'Hammermill Color Copy Digital Cover' 80lb/100 brightness for my white paper. Great contrast for the reds and pinks of Valentine's Day. It is very smooth and seems to take inks and markers very well. A bit less expensive than Neenah.
I love using a beautiful red for Valentine's Day cards! Your Silk Glitter Red Flash card stock is gorgeous and would be perfect for Valentines! I also love Solar White Classic Crest for my white card stock!
I love watercolor and your post was very interesting … the case is wonderful! My favorite color for love cards is white as it will all focus on the red heart and other decorations! I like your Red Cherry (a very pretty red) and Classic Crest Smooth White. Both work great in my Cricut and with die cutting. The Classic Crest Smooth White works wonders with markers too. Very good quality cardstock.

Silk glitter red flash is my go to for Valentine's Day mixed with either gray or a soft black! It really is a beautiful combination although the gray and blacker nontraditional. Would be dancing on Cloud Nine if I was to see that I am the lucky winner of this amazing prize package!! Thanks for the chance to!

Thanks for all the samples of different cardstock used with those amazing looking watercolors. They look like fun! My valentine cards this year used a light gray cardstock base but then the traditional red and pinks were layered on top. Thanks for the chance to win!
It really depends on the card, but any glitter cardstock, Neenah Solar White, Stardream Metallics, anything with a little sparkle 🙂

LOVE your card! My fav color for Valentines is still the traditional deep red…and white, of course!
Lovely! I appreciate you sharing products that work well with different papers carried at Cut Card Stock. My absolute favorite paper is French, particularly the Speckletones. Great color variety, good prices and works very well when I'm screen printing. If I'm printing letterpress, I always have to go with Crane's Letra, such a lovely piece of paper – feels good and holds a good impression.

I love using Papertrey Ink or Neenah Solar White cardstock for my cards. I didn't realize there were other kinds of cardstock I could use for watercoloring!!! Here I was buying the Ranger brand…thanks so much for this, I'll check out the other ones!

I love Neenah solar white to create my valentines cards.
Based on the Valentines I just mailed the other day, I'd have to say that red cardstock is my preferred card base. What a great giveaway. I've heard many raves about those watercolors.
My favourite card stock for Valentine's day (and most holidays!) is Cryogen White. Extra bling just adds that extra-special touch to your projects!

I love using greys! I combine them with some of the traditional colors, but a grey base and a lot of grey just makes me happy.
Thanks for sharing your watercolor/cardstock tests!I like to stick with a good, bright white cardstock for Valentine's (or pretty much anything else). I love the pop of color that can be done with stamping and/or embellishments and also think it can be fun to stick with basic black & white (& maybe even give the recipient something to color in on their own.
