As I was preparing for this blog post, I was chatting with my daughter about it and she said, “Why not make a centerpiece for the Fourth of July party.” Well, I thought that was a fab idea…so here it is. (Thanks sweetie!)
I love to mix things up and that’s why I used turquoise instead of the traditional navy or royal blue. I think it adds an element of fun.
Instructions
- Gather supplies, including paper of choice, mine are Pop Tones in Wild Cherry, Sweet Tooth and Blue Raspberry, along with glass jar, bamboo skewers, glue, glitter glues, embellishments and electronic trimmer
- Trim the card stocks to the width needed to get all the way around your jar and the height as follows:
Blue Raspberry to 4-1/2″
Sweet Tooth to 3-1/2″
Wild Cherry to 1-3/4″ - Punch the top edge of the white strip. Add all three strips to the jar using Glue Dots.
- Add small medallions to the centers of the punched designs.
- Finish the jar by adding another ribbon at the bottom of the jar.
- Using an electronic trimmer, cut a “bunch” of stars. I used my Cricut to cut a number of stars from each of the colors of card stock, from 1-1/4″ to 2″. Cut the USA circle letters.
- Create the USA banner by layering the letters on white and blue stars and a circle in the middle. Glue the pieces together using Tombow liquid glue and add two bamboo skewers to hold them up as seen here.
- Create 6-8 star topped skewers, layering stars, adding glitter glue, embellishments, etc.
These have two pairs of stars to add a bit of punch. -
Add the skewers to the jar and arrange them to “cuteness.” Set on your holiday table and enjoy.
Enjoy your centerpiece with a twist. Don’t be afraid to try a slightly different technique with some traditional ideas!
